Welcome to Bournville
Dear Bournville Families,
Good morning, and a very warm welcome to you all.
We are absolutely delighted to welcome you to Bournville at the beginning of your child’s primary school journey. Today you will have received confirmation of your child’s place in our Reception classes for September 2026. Many of you visited us during the application window, so you may already have a feel for our nurturing and friendly school community. If you haven’t had the chance to visit yet—or would simply like to come again—please get in touch via the school office, who will be very happy to help.
After the Easter break, we will begin allocating children to one of our two Reception classes: Seals or Penguins. Our wonderful Reception team is:
- Seals Class: Gemma Davolls and Jane Matthews
- Penguins Class: Andrea Bennett

New Starter Events and Transition Dates
To help your child settle happily and confidently into school, we have planned the following:
New Parent Information Evening
Wednesday 10th June, 4:00–5:00pm
We will begin with a short welcome talk in the hall before inviting you to explore the classrooms. You will receive your full information pack during this session, including your child’s class placement and settling-in schedule.
Stay and Play Sessions
- Monday 7th September
- Tuesday 8th September
Session times will be shared at the Parent Information Evening.
These relaxed sessions give the children a chance to explore the classrooms and meet the team with you by their side.
Settling-In Sessions
Wednesday 9th – Friday 11th September
Children will attend either:
- Morning session: 9:00–11:00
- Afternoon session: 1:15–3:15
You will be informed which group your child is in when you receive your welcome pack.
Full-Time Start
Monday 14th September
All children will attend full time: 8:40am–3:15pm.
All children can access our free breakfast club from 8:30am.
